so basically, you need to get a quest, something about "go to the war table to get specializations". this doesn't appear at your first visit to the skyhold, I guess you need to travel somewhere and get back (after you gain lvl 10, but I'm not sure), maybe even twice. if you have the quest, then go to the war table, activate the ferelden side

kenlee25 9 years ago #5. From what I heard, each companion specializes into a certain type. You can't just have all of your warriors as reavers for example. I believe they did this to further specialize the companions. If you notice, their are 9 companions and 9 specialization classes. Weapon types are free to be switched out and specced however.
